Dulima was inspired by indigenous groups from the southern region of Colombia, namely the The Pijaos people of the region around the Tolima volcano.
Dulima was created in 2009 to capture the quintessential coffee profile of the central and south Huila region. Outstanding coffees are grown throughout the volcanoes and mountains of Huila and lots are carefully selected through rigorous analyses at origin to guarantee profile consistency and quality.
Why the 'Orinoco Crocodile'?
The Orinoco crocodile (Crocodylus intermedius) is a critically endangered species native exclusively to the Orinoco River basin in Colombia and Venezuela. Historically one of the largest crocodilians, its population was decimated by overhunting for its valuable skin in the 20th century, and it continues to be threatened by habitat loss, pollution, and local poaching.
A very large crocodile, historically reaching lengths of up to 6.8 meters (22 feet), though individuals today are typically smaller, with males averaging 3.5–4.2 meters. They have a long, narrow snout suited for a diet primarily of fish, and their coloration is light, often a golden-olive, even in adults.
The Orinoco crocodile is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Current estimates suggest fewer than 250 mature adults remain in the wild.
